How
it Works
Education at BASICSchool is divided into three departments:
-
Experimental Arts Education Unit (EAEU)
Department for experimental music and performing arts education (for children aged 7 to 14)
-
Classical Music Department (CMD)
Department for classical music education (for children aged 7 to 14)
-
Preschool & Preparatory Division (PPD)
Department for preschool and preparatory education (for children aged 0 to 6)
1. Experimental Arts Education Unit (EAEU)
EAEU offers a fully integrated and dynamic syllabus for children aged 7 to 14 years, without separate departments or specializations. Students select various music and performing arts courses that are held once a week. The program is constantly evolving, with new syllabi and projects introduced each semester. Classes are bilingual, in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian and English, with an emphasis on English. Small class sizes of 10 students allow for personalized attention. The academic year is divided into three semesters. Students can choose up to 10 courses per semester, and a diploma requires completion of at least 12 courses over a minimum of two years. The syllabus is designed to develop artistic, logical, mathematical, and social skills, with a focus on ethical decision-making and teamwork.
2. Classical Music Department (CMD)
CMD provides classical music education for children aged 7 to 14 years, with the option to study in the following areas: solo singing, piano, guitar, violin, cello, and flute. Students receive individual instruction classes on their chosen instrument, as well as solfeggio and music theory, according to a well-defined curriculum. The program is divided into six levels, each lasting an academic year and ending with exams in all subjects. After completing each level, students receive a certificate, and after finishing all six levels, they receive a diploma. CMD graduates can prepare for enrollment in a secondary music school and may pursue additional education within the CMD program. Classes are offered in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian or English.
3. Preschool & Preparatory Division (PPD)
EAEU offers innovative preschool and preparatory education for children aged 0 to 6 years through three programs: Music Playgroup (0-3 years), Music Workshop (3-6 years), and Ballet School (3-6 years).
-
3.1 Music Playgroup is for children aged 0 to 3 years and focuses on collective music-making and play. Through songs and interactions with their parents, children learn their first words and develop musical skills. Parents accompany their children and actively participate in the music-making process, fostering a strong bond through music.
-
3.2 Music Workshop for children aged 3 to 6 years expands musical education through play and animation. Through singing, playing instruments, and exploring music, children develop musical and social skills, preparing them for formal music education. The program encourages concentration, patience, and collaboration while balancing play and learning.
-
3.3 Ballet School for children aged 3 to 6 years introduces the basics of ballet and music through dance. The program develops motor skills, discipline, and a sense of teamwork, while also encouraging creativity and self-confidence.
All programs are conducted in small groups, once a week, in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian or English. Upon completion of the program, children receive a certificate and descriptive grades and can continue their education in the CMD or EAEU departments.
4. Music, Theatrical & Audiovisual Projects (MTAP)
The fourth, special department of the school is called Music, Theatrical & Audiovisual Projects (MTAP), which focuses on extracurricular activities for students from the EAEU and CMD departments. At the beginning of each school year, the school publishes an annual activity plan that includes various projects such as concerts, musicals, TV shows, dubbing animated films, recording music covers, and albums. Participation is open to all students, offering an opportunity to develop artistic skills through work on real productions. Students join the projects through auditions.
